Hi guys, no time no speak! I've taken some time out this weekend (it's bank holiday over here) and created a new A&C trailer. I'm not 100% happy with it and the compression is a little high (DivX) but hope you like it all the same. Open this thread to view the trailer...

What's everyone's opinions on Bob's shirts? I just got mine and had my first great gag. Wore it at Marco Polo, someone asked me "Where's The Susquehanna Hat Company"? (Steady Boy, I said to myself) I went into a partial renedering of my act and the people were laughing. It's a hit! Bob, tremendous! Hey, when we meet, let's all have them on at least - All we need is a Sidney Fields in the bathtub shirt, Oh my goodnes I'm laughing already

Question for ALL!!! WHERE were you living when ABBOTT AND COSTELLO first came into your living rooms on TV (of course and in your hearts) and where are you now? The state, if you don't want to mention the city, would be fine.

Does anyone know how the first season of the TV Show was originally led into? I mean prior to 1978, which is when I assume the present music and mosaic of movie clips plus credits was added?

(I assume this from observing the "copyright 1978" clearly printed on the screen...) I mean, did an announcer say, "next, the Abbott & Costello Show!" or did they just appear on the screen with no warning (but then, who wouldn't have known who they were back 1952 or 1953?)

Here's a trivia question for the board: what routines were done in the movies and/or Colgate that did NOT get done in the TV Show? I can think of two, but I'll bet there are people out there who know a lot more than I do!!! Custard

In Who Done It, there is a scene between Lou and the usher, who "got it over on Lou" by drinking orange juice faster than he can make it and by getting Lou's tickets to Murder at Midnight. But after Lou gets rooked out of his tickets, he tells the usher "this is the third time" he has been tricked by the usher today. I count only two. Am I missing one, or was one left on the cutting room floor?

I recently read the book, The Abbott&Costello Story-60 Years Of Who's On First by Stephen Cox and John Lofflin. I found the book, for the most part, to be very good. But there is always something that confounds me. It's when they interview people that the Boys worked with. When they talk about Lou, I would say 8 times out of ten, people say how funny and sweet he was, but then you get the other 2 and it's like they worked with a totally different person. In the book, they speak to Robert Easton who played Luke McCoy in Comin' Round The Mountain. He said that Bud was very professional, always gentlemanly and friendly. But Lou was unpredictable and moody. He claims that Ida Moore, who plays Granny in the film, told him to watch out because Lou doesn't like it if your too funny and that your part may be cut down because of it. He said this confused him because he worked with Jack Benny, Milton Berle and Red Skelton and they were all very unselfish. Then there was the relationship between Lou and Bobby Barber. Mr. Easton claims that Lou would send him on meaningless errands and that the way Lou treated him was very disturbing, bordering on sadistic. constantly poking him and tripping him, being very demeaning. This struck a chord with me because earlier in the book, he quotes an artist named Phil Cambridge, who was a friend of director Ed Wood. Mr. Cambridge said, Ed told me that Lou, unlike the personable little guy he played, was an s.o.b. in person and hated Bud and everyone else. He said that Lou had a "chauffeur" named Bobby Barber, and would always humiliate this guy whenever he was angry, he would kick or hit him, whatever he felt like doing. One day he handed Bobby a bar of soap and made him eat it. Because of my love of A&C, this really bothers me. I've heard the stories of Shemp Howard saying that Lou had all his funny stuff cut from the films, but then why were they so friendly and why did Shemp work with them for so long? I find it all very confusing. What are your thoughts?

Well, we are about ready to head into May of 2008 and still no date on Captain Kidd and Rio Rita so if they are still planning on releasing them this year, they will probably wait until the last minute. Rio Rita I like best of their MGM films and can't wait to get this one on DVD. And even though Captain Kidd is not their best film by a long shot, having this color gem restored on DVD is an Abbott & Costello dream come true. Lets hope these releases are not to far away.........

Just read this on CNN.COM: NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- Jim Hager, one of the Hager Twins who satirized country life with cornball one-liners on TV's "Hee Haw," died in Nashville, the show's producer said Friday. He was 66. These guys were great and I use to watch Hee Haw growing up. This show had a great cast and it brings me alot of good memories everytime I thing of it.

Bud Abbott also personified the 'everyman' in all human conditions. His was the 'voice of reason', 'voice of doom', seemingly always the 'voice of the rational'. With his ever-present hat and suave demeanor, he easily cajoled anyone within the sound of that voice. One couldn't help but be drawn in to listen. Bud's manner was silky-smooth, his personality strong and vibrant. He will always be our friend. We love you Bud and remember you on the anniversary of your passing
